Interview with a talented and elegant man.

Would you say that your passion for hockey comes from your family, one whose all members are great athletes?

It is simply a passion. When you love something, you are entirely committed and you become truly passionate. Since the age of two and a half, I have been playing hockey and it keeps on growing.

Do you believe that without your father’s help, who has been training with you at a very young age, your success would have been the same?

No, I do not believe so. And it is all because of my parents I find myself where I am today. Not only my father, also my mother, because they both made lots of sacrifices. Naturally, it is my father who brought me to the skating rinks and helped me develop my skating, training program and hockey skills. I worked with him very intensely. But without my mother’s contribution, I would not be where I am.

Do you think they pushed you because they recognize your talent, or they felt you had a passion for the sport?

I think that, as all parents, they wanted me to be active and spend my energy. They wanted me to be successful, but mostly happy, as for my four brothers and sisters. For them, being part of the national league was not an objective. It was my dream, but it certainly wasn’t a goal.

Out of the rink, we notice your taste for fashion. It seems like you get good pleasure by being well dressed…

It came with time. My sister Natasha and I had an interest in arts. My sister even received a scholarship to specialize in arts in Florence. I was very involved in my art classes at school. In my free time, I still do sketches using charcoal and pastel pens. People are less aware of that aspect of my personality. I love to observe details when it comes to arts and fashion.

What style of clothing you look for?

I try to create my own style, by observing and getting inspired by other people. I lean toward a classic style like in the series Boardwalk Empire that I watch on TV. I love the style of fitted suits. It’s today’s trend.

Do you notice the young men generation pays more attention to the way they dress?

Definitely, because women appreciate a well-dressed man. Men also notice the importance of being well dressed, whether for interview, reunion, and even in family gatherings or among friends. Nowadays, we give more importance toward our appearance and physical shape. It became a lifestyle.

I have been told that you love watches?

I really love watches, especially the ones I get as gifts… (Smile). I really enjoy looking at them and wearing them. I have a Rolex Submariner and hope to broaden my collection in the next few years.

To conclude, what does it take to be a good captain?

It is a person that gets his colleagues and opponents respect. And ultimately make a difference on the ice.

Would you wish to become the captain of the Montreal Canadiens?

I am already captain being the assistant. This nomination is a big step forward for the organization and me. I am very enthusiastic for the future.

One thing is for sure; you have the spirit of a captain. Wish you a great season!
